The Board of Directors announces the retirement as Rabbi of The Shul of New York of our founder and beloved spiritual leader, Rabbi Burt Aaron Siegel, as well as his elevation to the position of Rabbi Emeritus of The Shul of New York.

Rabbi Emeritus Burt Aaron Siegel

In this bittersweet moment, we look back at how much Rabbi Burt has meant to all of us over the years.  We will miss Rabbi Burt on the bimah, but we are sustained by the knowledge that as he is embarking on the next chapter in his life-long spiritual journey, Rabbi Burt will remain an integral part of The Shul of New York as a teacher and advisor.

The Board has offered the position of Rabbi of The Shul of New York to our Associate Rabbi, Matthew Reimer, and we are happy to report that he has enthusiastically accepted.

Rabbi Burt, Rabbi Matthew, Adam Feder and The Shul Band will lead us in joyous High Holidays and the Board is thrilled to announce that this year’s High Holiday Services will return to the Angel Orensanz Foundation!

Please plan to join us in a memorable celebration of Rabbi Burt, to welcome Rabbi Matthew, and for what we are sure will be a very special Shul of New York High Holiday celebration.
