Sunday Salons with Rabbi Eva

Exploring Jewish Rituals, Practices & Values

Have you wondered about Jewish and non-Jewish rituals and why we do them?

How might rituals enhance the quality and rhythm of your life?

What events in your life would you like to mark with a ritual?

How might you go about creating your own ritual?

Rituals are the markers that not only connect us to our traditions, but also add a quality of mindfulness and meaning to the way we choose to live.

Join Rabbi Eva for this 5 part series to explore Jewish rituals, practices and values that mark the cycles of time. Discuss the purpose of rituals and how they apply to Shabbat, holidays, life cycles, and life transitions. Share ways to design a ritual for deeper personal meaning around joyous, as well as sad occasions.

Session 1:  Let’s talk about rituals. What is a ritual and why are rituals so important in our lives?

Session 2:  The Rituals that mark our lives: Birth, B’nai-Mitzvot, Weddings.

Session 3:  The Rituals that mark our life transitions: Illness, Death and Grief.

Session 4:  The Rituals of Shabbat and holidays, including Rosh Hodesh (the new month).

Session 5:  How to create rituals that honor new stages in our lives such as retirement, becoming a grandparent, adopting a child, going off to college, moving, recovering from an illness, the loss of a pet, and anything that is meaningful to you.
