Jewish Chant: HaMakom: A Place to Belong
Join Rabbi Eva and her chant partner, Rav Shoshana as they guide you in sacred chants and deepen our spiritual practices.
We are graduates of Rabbi Shefa Gold’s Kol Zimra, a two year training program that has empowered and enabled us to share these spiritual practices with a community of fellow spiritual seekers.
In our style of Hebrew chanting, we repeat simple sacred phrases that help us focus on the core meaning of a prayer or piece of text to guide us in our lives. The repetition of the words or song can become a meditation. opening our hearts and minds. We complete each chant with a few moments of silence, basking in the aftermath of this ecstatic experience.
Using our voices in call and response, an age old spiritual practice, we open our hearts through prayer and song.
No singing experience is required.
This program meets the second Tuesday of each month at 7:30pm at the JCC of Manhattan and is co-sponsored by The Shul of New York.
