What will be your legacy?

The art of writing your Legacy Letter

A 3-session workshop with Rabbi Eva

The unexamined life is not worth living. ~ Socrates

In remembrance lies the secret of redemption. ~ Baal Shem Tov

What is a legacy letter and why do you need one?

What values do you believe in, live by and hope others will continue to value after you are gone?

How do you describe the life you are living?

A Legacy Letter is a personal legacy of spirit, meaning, and value in which one reflects on his or her life, harvests its worth and meaning, and shares wisdom, lessons learned, and special messages with important individuals or with the community. Legacy Letters are also called ethical wills, spiritual-ethical wills, spiritual autobiographies, family philosophy statements, credos or even love letters.

During this 3-part workshop, we will prepare to write our own Legacy Letter by:

  • Reviewing what a Legacy Letter is and why it is important to write one.
  • Discussing basic Jewish values.
  • Looking at what events in your life have shaped your values.
  • Focusing on life lessons, hopes, dreams, blessings and forgiveness.
  • Assessing the value, spirit and meaning of your life through life review and ‘accounting of the Soul’ (cheshbon ha’nefesh).

The class will meet on 3 Sunday mornings:

February 3rd, February 24th, and March 17th from 10am to 12pm.

The fee for all 3 sessions is $54.
