8th Night Passover Mimouna Celebration

Come celebrate with us!

Join us for a special 8th Night Passover Mimouna Celebration Shabbat Service with Rabbi Eva, Adam Feder and the Shul band.  Following the service will be a dinner featuring Moroccan dishes and desserts.

What is a Mimouna?

Mimouna is a holiday that comes from Moroccan and other North African Jewish communities. It begins the night Passover ends, and marks the return of chametz  back into our homes.

Jews who live in Muslim countries often open their homes to everyone on the block, including their Muslim neighbors, to share in the celebration bringing milk and honey, couscous and chametz flour desserts. Entire communities come together, wishing for mutual productivity and prosperity for the coming year. People travel from house to house, tasting sweets and celebrating with their neighbors.

Mimouna is not only a feast, but also a symbolic and spiritual event that marks the beginning of spring -- a time full of hope for wealth and abundance in the coming year.
