SHUL COVID-19 POLICY

In order to preserve the health and safety of our congregants and their guests, the Shul has, based on CDC and NYS guidelines, implemented the following COVID-19 Policy for in-person services and events:

  • All attendees age 12 and older at all Shul services and events MUST show proof of full COVID-19 Vaccination, and a photo ID for age 18 and older.
  • Proof must be shown every time before entering any location where the Shul is holding a service or event. A previous showing of proof will not carry over to your next entry.
  • Acceptable proof of vaccination is the NYS Excelsior Pass or your official vaccination card.  No other proof will be accepted.
  • There will be NO EXCEPTIONS to the proof of vaccination rule.
  • There will be no social distancing and masks will not be required for those who are vaccinated.
  • To ensure the safety of everyone, masks are required for all children under 12 years old.
  • In the event NYS guidelines change, the Shul will adjust this policy  accordingly.  We will inform you of changes in a timely manner.
  • It is your responsibility to inform all members of your party of this policy.

Dear Friends,

The Board is thrilled to announce that we are celebrating the High Holidays
live and in person at the Angel Orensanz Foundation!!

We have based our decision on NYS guidelines for public gatherings.  In order to provide the safest possible environment for all, we are requiring proof of full Covid vaccination for all attendees age 12 & over (Photo ID required for age 18 & over.) Children under 12 who cannot get a vaccination yet are welcome but must wear a mask.

It is our hope that you will join us at Orensanz, but we realize that not every adult can be vaccinated and that some will not feel comfortable attending.  That is why we are also providing an online livestream video of all services.

Whether you join us in-person at Orensanz or at home via the livestream, the Shul’s High Holiday Services will be just as you remember them.  You will once again:

  • Be surrounded by the magnificent beauty of the Angel Orensanz Foundation!

  • Be uplifted by the amazing music of Adam and The Shul Band!

  • Be moved by the words of Rabbi Emeritus Burt Siegel!

  • Be introduced to our new rabbi, Rabbi Susan Falk!  (We know you will love her!)

  • Be amused (he hopes) by Don’s one-of-a-kind Kol Nidre Appeal!

  • And, feel your hearts swell with the love of the Shul of New York Family!

Last year was a difficult year financially for many of us and the Shul was no exception.  Despite incurring the largest deficit in the history of the Shul, more than $20,000, the Shul has survived to continue to serve our congregation and community.

Your generosity is the reason the Shul is still here!

The High Holidays are the time of year when we need your support most of all.  Please remember that all through the pandemic, the Shul remained true to our vision to be open to all and minimum dues free.  This was made possible by you!

We can never find the words to adequately express our profound gratitude to you for standing by the Shul during a year that was a difficult time, physically, emotionally, and financially for all of us.

Just as the Shul has always endeavored to be there when you need us, we know we can rely on you to support the Shul, as you have always.

The Board of Directors

You have always been there for the Shul in difficult times.

Now, more than ever, we need your help.

Thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity.
