Virtual Oneg Shabbat

While we cannot eat and schmooze together after an online Shabbat Service, we don't want to lose the opportunity to honor someone, acknowledge an important life event, or memorialize a loved one during our weekly Shabbat Services.

Any reason is a good reason to share in a Virtual Oneg!

Perhaps you are celebrating a special event (a birth, baby-naming, engagement, wedding, anniversary, birthday, graduation, Bar/Bat Mitzvah, etc.).  You may want to remember a loved one in a special way, or celebrate a return to health, or a new job, or whatever matters to you.

We welcome you to sign up for a Virtual Oneg on the form below to take part in this community affirming experience. Simply choose a date, tell us who (or what) you'd like to honor or memorialize,  make an optional donation (if you are able), and then join us at our Shabbat service.

Please also let us know if you will attend the service and how or if you wish to participate in the candle lighting.

If you are marking a Yahrzeit or memorializing a loved one you may also want to consider adding them to the Shul's Roll of Remembrance. The Roll of Remembrance is shown at the four Yizkor services throughout the year and is a lovely way to honor a lost loved one.

Fine Print: A Virtual Oneg is open to all. Virtual Onegs may be shared with other members of the congregation. The more blessings, the more community! Shul Zoom sessions may be recorded and/or livestreamed so that more people may have access to them on demand. By participating in a Shul Zoom session, you give The Shul of New York permission to record and livestream your image and/or voice and you assign all rights to your still and video image recorded during the Zoom session and any audio recorded during the Zoom session to The Shul of New York. Lawyers, feh!
